Why Press Freedom? Why is it Important? Well the simple answer is that it is the only way we can ensure that the people know the truth. It is the only way we can ensure that those who govern us and pledge to protect us do not take advantage of us as citizens. Without a Free Press we risk being fed lies and half truths and being constantly short-changed. A free Press is inextricably linked to our other freedoms, in fact, one could go so far as to say that it is a vigilant and free press that protects and guards our other freedoms. So when we cry FREE PRESS NOW! we are saying FREEDOM NOW! if you value your freedom you will value and protect a free press.

How does this site help? Who does it help? Our campaign for a Free Press knows no borders. We believe, and have substantial evidence to prove, that when the free press is attacked in one jurisdiction, it is often just a matter of time before it reaches another. It is like a disease and can spread quite rapidly if given the chance. When you use our "Report Press Abuse" tool we see that it gets to everyone and every organization in our network. Wherever you are in the world, once you see, or experience, an instance of Press Abuse tell us about it.
